Paint it with a tan paint. Then when dry take a small paint brush and spread a darker color to simulate wood grain. Just touch the brush to the darker paint and brush very lightly. You can do it!

Try a small scrap of wood first if you are concerned. How do i paint a bathroom cabinet to look like wood? what color should i use. not a dark wood.?
A natural brush ( I think it maby a horse hair paintbrush will work better) it was on a show called Hamerheads on HGTV or DIY.

mix brown with a drop or 2 of white, and it should be light brown, really light brown, and then get a tan colour and paint the really light brown, let it dry mostly, but then add the tan, and make it look like it is sorta like a mix,,,don't put them togather al the way, just mix...
Light brown :)
