Depending the on what kind of paint ';latex is water based or a Primer which is oil';

Paint thinner is solvent that breaks down the components that bind paint. it's fairly common.

Think of it as nail polish remover for the house!

CAUTION- if you do this yourself make sure windows and doors stay open!!

AND anyone shorter than the door knob should not be in that immediate area!

Home depot is a

great do it yourself superstore!!

GOOD LUCK1

Ok, paint thinner is to remove oil-based paints for the most part. Generally, you can use a sharp metal blade to cut the paint down the line you want, and scrape the paint off by raking the blade along the area. It's best if you have a Paint scaper - you can get them at any hardware store. If there is still difficult areas to get off, you can mask off the area and apply paint removal product (also at a hardware store) which will slowly kind of melt the paint - which you wipe off.

Try using an exacto knife in that area (carefully) to see how that is coming off, and if it's really bad, it may be best to take the window trim itself off and sand it or apply paint removal products to that. Then reapply the trim around the window.
You did not say what you had for trim that made it so special. Mom did not give a shyte either.

Paint on the edges is not a big deal, unless it was done half and half(some here and none there). There is no use me telling you any more than that. Go to the paint store with as much information as you can dig up. What the molding is, what the wall paint is and what can you do about it. They will know.
