How to paint on wood?

I'm not actually painting on the wood.





I have a photocopy pic that I drew and pasted on the wood, but it wrinkled once I put the gesso on. Am I supposed to put the gesso on, then paste the picture?





Once I put the gesso on the picture it covers up everything, should I just use matte medium?How to paint on wood?
Tape the picture down to a board then put the matte medium on. Let it dry flat like that and then take the tape off and glue it on the wood. You can iron the paper if necessary with a piece of wax paper between the iron and paper.
