How to remove sticker residue from painted wood artwork?

I bought this wall hanging at a discount place and the tag was on the front of it. When I took it off, it left *all* the sticky stuff. Already tried getting it wet, but that did nothing. Thanks in advance for any help you can give!!How to remove sticker residue from painted wood artwork?

will wipe it clean
WD40 lubricant.
Try mayonaisse! Put some on liberally and let set for 15-20 minutes, then wipe. Good Luck.
