Here are the steps and tools needed

Remember that it would be best to remove door to accomplish this.

When painting metal doors it's best to get those foam brushes instead of bristle brushes.

But since you are want to paint a grain feature you may want to test which you like best.

Its called doing a faux finish on ur door, but u need proper primer for the metal door before doing it.
Start with a base of brown paint, let it dry then add streaks of a darker brown to black to simulate patterns of the grain in the wood
go to home depot to the paint department and ask them they will know.
do the prep work first-provide a clean surface

apply appropriate primer for adhesion to exterior metal surface

use a decorative paint product to mimic graining the surface

apply a protective compatable finish (varnish or exterior polyurethane) due to exposure to weather
there are pre mixed paints

we can also mix colours and arrive at wood colour
