How to paint bare wood ?

i have brand new skirting boards doors and architrave

whats the best stuff to buy to paint

i already have knot treatment

but do i need to buy a primer and undercoat

whats the way to goHow to paint bare wood ?
Knock of any razor sharp edges associated with new wood with a little abrasive paper

With a clean cloth over your finger, wipe two coats of knotting to just cover any woodknots.

Bare wood needs priming. The primer needs to be thinned a little so it soaks in and takes a better grip. Then internally you want preferably two undercoats followed by one gloss. Or you want one undercoat followed by two satin finish coats.

You could buy a primer/undercoat. You can use water based paints.

Personally I would use oil-based paints. I would apply two primer coats, the first one overthinned so it soaks in and the second is to make up the thickness.

There is no need to rub down between coats of new paint except to deburr or knock off any junk you picked up when painting the previous coat. The lightest of flick over with a fine P180 grit paper is more than enough. How to paint bare wood ?
Use the knotting first , sand down but not hard.Give it two coats of undercoat sanding between each one ..Then give it a good coat of gloss..

Buy the best paint you can afford as cheap is what it is ..Cheap and nasty.

End result , perfection .
yes you need to prime the wood first for better adheresion of the paint and a better finish
two coats over it, use brush, or spry it , just do it !
