How can u paint paper/card paper or even cloth to make it look like wood in any easy way?

go to your hardware store in the paint section there is a special comb looking thing for painting faux wood pattern on walls you roll the paint on the paper or cloth you can use plain old acrylic paint too you can see this technique and a picture of it on martha steward .comHow can u paint paper/card paper or even cloth to make it look like wood in any easy way?
Other than to go onto google and find wood texture to print on your paper it may be a little difficult. They do have a faux paint out for cupboards then you take a wood grain roller on and it gives it the grain texture. I've used this before on some hideous cupboards and you couldn't tell the difference.
