Any ideas%26gt;?How to paint wood black?
Minwax Polyshade is a stain and polyurathane all in one finish.

It is not a paint. If you wanted to paint it black then you should have used black paint and not stain. Buy a can of simi-gloss black paint. You can probably paint over the polyshade, but I would sand it a little first. How to paint wood black?
Okay, First I am not up on the paint your using but I believe if you follow me this will fix it. Is it oil base paint or latex paint? Right now in your situation it doesn't matter lets get this chair black and looking good. What you have done so far let it dry for 24 hours if it is oil if latex 12 hours. Get some 220 grit sandpaper and lightly sand it in the direct of the grain. All you want to do is rough it up so the next coat will bond better. Then apply you paint. The brush is a huge factor as well. Is your brush for the right paint. Oil or latex? Theresa difference. If you don't have have the right brush go invest in a professional brush THEN you will make a big difference. Do this until you have covered the wood completely. You should have used a good oil base primer to start but follow this and it should turn out nice. Make sure the paint is good and dry before you sand it before each coat. Always remember if you hand paint something use a good brush for the oil or latex paint. On that chair I would have used Restoelum. Its a metal paint but it dries super hard and will shine like glass and with very little brush marks. Good luck and if any question my email is on my profile.........
Black paint and a dark primer like gray after the final coat of black is on then poly to get the shine primer then paint then poly sand it down and try again you'll need paint stripper to get the recent paint off
You will need to apply at least 1 more coat over it. You should have primed the wood first but since you didn't the coat you put on it will be the primer coat.
sand it down with 80 grit sandpaper and, then sand again with, 120 or 150 grit sandpaper. Then paint it, then stain it. Or just get a dark stain.
