Prepare surface with glass paper, remove dirt and oily bits, prime the wood, then rub down then undercoat, rub down again, then a light coat of top coat, rub down again with fine glass paper/grit paper then a final coat. Use a fine brush or if spraying, light coats are the best, not all at one go.How to paint wood furniture?
it really depends on teh surface. is it stained already? or not stained. in either case this is what you would have to do... first off make sure there is now cloth on it, or cover the cloth very very very very well. then what you need to do is prepare the surface, you can do this by lightly up to severe sanding it.. lowe's or home depot will have different grade sand papers for you.. the reason i say sand it and the different leves is because if it isnt already stained then lightly sand it so the primer has something to bond to, if it is already stained then sand with rough paper, then again with fine paper. then prime, once the primer is done you can apply your final coat. also make sure to atleast use indoor paint and primer, as exterior paints and primors will give off nasty gasses that are harmful to children, animals, and adults while being inside versus outside like they are suposed to be. either way make sure to sand first then prime then paint, hell the home depot or lowe's may even have furniture paint specifically for furniture. always good to consult those people as they only hire people that are experienced in the field of the area of the store they work in. i go to lowe's and ask questions all the times and always get helpful hints or advice. i hop ethat this was helpful albeit long.
