How to paint wood moulding?

Looking to paint a mirror's wood molding. What would be the best way to make it look traditional molding?How to paint wood moulding?

I would remove the glass and put it in a safe place, then do what you want to it.
I would tape off the glass and sand the frame down. I then would use a nice color stain on it. You can get a variety of stains that would either make it look new or antique.
prime it first with an oil based primer. then paint with a stain finish paint of what ever color you are using. it is as simple as that.
